“Hand carved miniature work proved to be extremely frustrating and tedious so I decided to expedite the process by FDM 3d printing models in low temperature plastic to take the place of wax in my investment”
In my trial I discovered the function used to calculate the casting grain needed was insufficient due to the fact that the 3d prints weighed less than their wax counterparts of the same volume. I attempted to cast 14 charms and only got 9, but I learned from this to customize the wax to metal ratio formula specifically for FDM 3d-prints by adding a 30% safety factor.
